Frequently asked

Questions

We hope we’ve provided you with all the information you need. However, below are some answers to our most asked questions.

I still have a question.

No problem. Send us a message and we will get back to you.

Do you have access to my NHS records?

No, unfortunately we do not have access to your NHS GP records as these are not permitted to be shared outside the NHS. We do, however, request that you obtain a copy of your summary record from your NHS GP for our records to enable continuity of safe care.

Equally, the NHS do not have access to our records unless we share them with your consent.

Do you share information with my NHS GP?

We will only ever share information about you with your expressed consent, other than in very unusual circumstances in order to keep you or others safe.

It is preferable for certain information to be shared between care providers such as your medications, allergies and new diagnoses, however this can only be shared in line with your wishes.

Are you able to send prescriptions to my pharmacy?

Unfortunately the NHS electronic prescribing service does not extend to private GPs but we have a partnership with a couple of excellent online pharmacies. This means we can either email a prescription to you or arrange delivery of medication to your home / workplace usually 24-48 hours after an appointment at Montpellier Medical. This is particularly useful for repeat prescriptions which can be requested via our online form.

Alternatively, we can provide printed private prescriptions for you to take to a local pharmacy of your choosing.

Please note all private prescriptions attract a pharmacy fee.

Can I register with you as my regular GP?

We would love for you to come and see us as your regular GP but we would always encourage everyone to maintain their NHS GP registration alongside.

This allows you to benefit from the varied offering of the NHS including national screening programmes (e.g. cervical smears, bowel cancer tests and mammograms) and out of hours care via 111.

I have private health insurance, with that cover my appointments with you?

Not all private health insurers cover GP consultations but they will often include MOT medicals and screening tests in your policy. We advise checking with your provider prior to booking if you are unsure. Even if your treatment is going to be covered by your insurance we ask that all appointments and sundries (e.g. blood tests) are paid for in advance or on the day.

All patients are provided with an itemised invoice/receipt after their consultation which may be used to reclaim expenses from health insurance providerS should your policy cover private GP appointments (we recommend you check with your health insurance provider before being seen).

Can you refer me to see a specialist through the NHS?

We are not able to refer to NHS consultants. Our GP service has access to an extensive, trusted network of private consultants locally at The Nuffield and Winfield Hospitals however, we can also refer you to any private consultant specialist of your choice in the UK.

What should I do if I have an urgent problem?

Unfortunately we are not able to provide an emergency response service so for any urgent problems we would recommend seeking help and advice via 111 or 999 depending on the urgency.
